Traveling to Los Cabos, Mexico? You’ll likely fly into San Jose del Cabo International Airport. This is commonly known as “Cabo Airport.” The Los Cabos International Airport code is SJD, locally in Los Cabos, another airport called the Cabo San Lucas Airport. That has the CSL airport code. Most charter, private, and cargo flights fly into CSL.
With Cabo becoming a top tourist destination in Mexico, we wanted to answer some frequently asked questions about the Cabo Airport. If you have any questions that remain unanswered, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
How much does a shuttle or taxi from Cabo airport cost?
It depends on your group size and destination, but as a starting point: a shared shuttle runs about $25 per person each way, and a private SUV starts around $85–$95 one-way for up to 5 passengers. Enter your pickup and destination in the quote box above for an exact price.
What’s the difference between a shared shuttle and a private transfer?
A shared shuttle is a single seat in a van with other passengers, making 2–4 stops before your hotel, at roughly $25/person each way. A private transfer is your own vehicle, direct to your destination with no other stops, starting around $85 one-way, and includes a named driver with a welcome sign at the airport.
What’s the cheapest way to get from Cabo airport to my hotel?
A shared shuttle is the most budget-friendly option, typically $13–$40 per person each way depending on your destination. Booking in advance online, rather than at an airport kiosk, gets you the best rate.
Is round-trip cheaper than booking one-way twice?
Yes — round-trip is booked as a single reservation and comes at a discount versus paying for two separate one-way trips. Select “Round Trip” in the quote box to see your combined price.
How many people and how much luggage fits in a vehicle?
Standard private SUVs seat up to 5 passengers; vans seat up to 10. For larger groups we also run Sprinter vans for up to 17 passengers and coach buses for up to 42 — contact us with your headcount, including golf bags or oversized luggage, so we can match you to the right vehicle.
Do you have any current discount codes?
Yes — we regularly run promo codes. Check the banner on our homepage for the current active code, since codes rotate throughout the year, and enter it at checkout to apply your discount.
Will I get a confirmation after I book?
Yes, you’ll receive a detailed email confirmation within minutes of completing your booking, including your driver meeting point, arrival instructions, and booking ID. It’s sent from an @sjdtaxi.com address to the email you booked with — if it doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder first, then contact us with your name and travel date.
Can I cancel my airport shuttle service or private transfer and get a refund?
Yes, you can cancel any local shuttle or private transportation up to 72 hours before your airport shuttle service for a full refund. Submit your cancellation request through our online reservation update form or by calling +52-624-130-6994 M-F, 9 AM–4 PM MTN. Per the terms of service agreed to at the time of reservation, there is a $5 USD processing fee on all cancellations.
Can I cancel my La Paz, Todos Santos, or Los Barriles shuttle service and get a refund?
According to the terms of service agreed to at reservation, La Paz, Todos Santos, or Los Barriles tickets are not refundable, cannot be rescheduled, or transferred to another person — the sale is final.
Is the price per person or for the whole vehicle?
Shared shuttle pricing is per person, each way. Private transfer pricing is for the whole vehicle, regardless of how many passengers are riding, up to the vehicle’s capacity. We’ll always confirm which one applies before you book.
Can I make a grocery stop or a quick store stop?
Only with a private transfer — shared shuttles cannot make grocery or quick-store stops, since they’re already on a fixed multi-passenger route. Private transfers can stop at Walmart, Costco, Fresko, Soriana, California Market, or a wine store on request.
Do you provide car seats for kids?
Yes, for private transfers only. Infant, rear-facing, and booster seats are available as an add-on for $15 USD each, each way, and can be added at checkout when you book. Car seats are not available on shared shuttles.
What else is different about shared shuttles compared to private transfers?
Beyond price and stops, shared shuttles have a few firm limits: no grocery or store stops, no car seats, no oversized luggage, and no pets of any kind. Every passenger, including infants, needs their own seat — for safety, children cannot ride on a lap to avoid an extra fare. If your trip needs a car seat, extra luggage room, or a pet on board, book a private transfer instead.
What payment methods do you accept?
As the world has advanced, so have we — we’re a cashless service. All major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, and Klarna (buy-now-pay-later) are accepted online. No cash is handled at pickup, and there are no hidden fees beyond what’s shown at checkout, keeping things safe and simple for everyone.
Can I book the same day I arrive?
Yes for arrivals, subject to availability — though we recommend booking before you travel to guarantee your seat and pickup time. Same-day shared-shuttle departures are not available; see below.
Can I book a departure-only shared shuttle?
Only if it’s booked at least 72 hours before your pickup time — this is a government permitting requirement for shared shuttles at the airport, not a policy we can adjust. Inside that 72-hour window, only a private departure transfer can be booked. This is an effort to create fairness for local taxi and ride-share transport services.
How far in advance should I book?
Arrivals can be booked anytime, though earlier is better to guarantee availability during busy season. The only hard deadline is shared-shuttle departures, which must be booked at least 72 hours ahead by government requirement — private departures don’t have this restriction, though advance booking is still recommended.
What happens if my flight is delayed on arrival?
We track every incoming flight in real time and automatically adjust your pickup time, so a routine delay won’t leave you without a ride. We also build in time for immigration, luggage, and customs — but if you expect to be inside the terminal more than 45 minutes after landing, please call us. If your flight is delayed more than an hour, use our online update form so the change is documented on your booking.
Do you monitor my departure flight too?
No — for departures, we only go by the flight time you entered at booking. We’ll email you the day before your departure with your pickup details; please confirm that’s still correct, or submit any changes through our update form, as soon as you know. Custom pickup times outside your scheduled window aren’t available for shared shuttles.
Where exactly do I meet my driver at the airport?
This information is also in your confirmation email, sent after your receipt to the address you booked with, from an @sjdtaxi.com address. Exit the airport completely, following the instructions in that email, and report to your assigned umbrella/canopy number. For private transfers, a concierge will be holding an SJD Taxi sign with your name.
How long does the airport shuttle take, and how many stops does it make?
Once you check in with your representative outside the airport, the average wait for a full shared van is 10–60 minutes, with 2–4 stops before reaching your destination — total time is usually 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on how many stops are ahead of yours. A private transfer skips the extra stops and goes straight to your destination.
Can I talk to a real person instead of a bot?
Yes — our live chat is staffed by real people, not an AI bot, during business hours, and you can also call us directly any time using the phone numbers at the top of any page.
Are there any hidden fees or taxes?
No — the price you’re quoted is the price you pay, with no hidden fees. The only additions are the $5 USD cancellation processing fee, and any optional add-ons (car seats, grocery stops, refreshments) you choose to include.
Can I change my reservation after booking?
Yes — use our reservation update form to change your date, time, flight number, or destination. This keeps a clear written record of your request so nothing gets lost.
How will I recognize my driver?
Your driver will be holding a sign with your name at your assigned umbrella number, clearly identified with SJD Taxi branding. We are SJD Taxi — if your driver isn’t clearly identified with our branding at your assigned meeting point, you may be looking for a different company.
Do you provide transfers to Airbnbs, villas, or private rentals?
Yes — give us the address, a map pin, or the community/gate name when you book, and we’ll coordinate access, including gated communities. If you’re not sure of the exact address, send us what you have and we’ll confirm it before your arrival.
What’s the last shuttle of the day?
It depends on the day of the week, time of year, and your destination — there’s no single fixed cutoff. If you’re not sure whether your flight time will make the last shuttle, call us with your flight details and we’ll walk you through your options.
Do you provide transfers for large groups, weddings, or activities like marina fishing trips?
Yes — we handle round-trip transfers from your hotel or Airbnb to activities like deep-sea fishing at the marina, plus large-group and wedding transportation using Sprinter vans (up to 17 passengers) or coach buses (up to 42). Contact us with your group size and schedule for a custom plan.
