　店主がおかみさんに「カツ丼！」と伝える。
　おかみさんはカウンターの中から「あいよ！」と返事する。
　この一連の動作を見て、俺はニヤリと笑った。

　俺はここに来る前に、この店のリサーチをしていた。
　この店は老夫婦二人でやっている。
　店主が注文を受け、おかみさんが調理をする。
　おかみさんは耳が遠いから、店主が注文を復唱する際に、大きな声で伝えるのが常だ。

　俺は耳が遠いおかみさんのために、店主が大声で注文を伝えるところに目を付けた。
　そこに、俺の計画の糸口がある。

　「お待たせしました、カツ丼です」

　おかみさんがカツ丼を俺の前に置く。
　俺は丼に乗せられたカツを見る。
　カツは一口で食べれるように、五つに切り分けられている。
　これは俺の計画に最適だ。
　俺はカツを一つ箸で掴んで、口に運んだ。
　揚げたてのカツは、熱々の卵とじに包まれていて、とても美味しい。

　「美味い！」

　俺は大声で叫んだ。
　店主がおかみさんに「美味いってさ！」と伝える。
　おかみさんはカウンターの中から「あいよ！」と返事した。

　俺はカツ丼を食べ進める。
　三つ目のカツを口に運んだところで、俺は店主を呼んだ。

　「店主、追加で注文いいですか？」

　店主が「はい、なんでしょう」と返事をする。
　俺は店主の耳に顔を近づけて、小さな声でこう言った。

　「すみません、このカツ丼、実は……犬の肉ですよね？」

　店主は目を丸くして、俺を見た。
　俺はニヤリと笑った。

　店主は俺から離れて、おかみさんにこう言った。

　「おかみさん、お客さんがカツ丼は犬の肉じゃないかって！」

　おかみさんはカウンターの中から、大声で返事をした。

　「あら、バレちゃった？」

　俺はニヤリと笑った。
　計画通りだ。

　俺は警察を呼んだ。
　警察が到着するまで、俺はカツ丼を食べ続けた。
　そして、警察が到着した時には、カツ丼は残り一つになっていた。
　俺は最後のカツを口に運んだ。
　犬の肉は、とても美味しかった。

　警察が店主とおかみさんを連行する。
　俺は警察官に「ご協力ありがとうございました」と頭を下げた。
　警察官は俺に「いえいえ、とんでもない。よくぞ通報してくださいました」と言った。

　俺は店を出る。
　店を出ると、外にはたくさんの野次馬が集まっていた。
　野次馬たちは俺を見て、ひそひそと話している。

　「あの人が犬肉カツ丼の事件を解決した人だ」
　「すごいな、よくぞ気が付いたもんだ」
　「勇気ある行動だ」

　俺は野次馬たちの視線を浴びながら、ニヤリと笑った。
　俺はただの探偵ではない。
　俺はグルメ探偵だ。
　どんな事件も、俺の舌にかかれば、すぐに解決する。

　俺は次の事件を探しに、街を歩き出した。
　すると、俺のスマホが鳴った。
　スマホを見ると、依頼人からのメッセージが届いていた。

　「先生、助けてください！　カレーライスから、どう考えても猫の肉の味がするんです！」

　俺はニヤリと笑った。
　次の事件も、俺の舌にかかれば、すぐに解決するだろう。
　俺はグルメ探偵だ。
　そして、この世に悪がはびこる限り、俺の舌は止まらない。
　俺は歩き出した。
　次の事件へと向かうために。
　俺の胃袋は、常に空っぽだ。
　そして、俺の舌は、常に事件を求めている。
