Staycations are becoming increasingly popular among locals and expats in Los Cabos, and it’s easy to see why. They’re much easier to plan and usually cost less than a traditional vacation. These can be more than enough to plan a staycation for yourself.
This doesn’t mean just booking a few days off work and leaving it at that. Instead, it’s worth putting a bit more time and effort into it than that. All it takes is a few steps, and these could be quicker and easier than you think. You’ll be enjoying your staycation before you know it, and it could be a memorable time, even if it’s just a quick break.
Book a Hotel Room or Airbnb
When you’re thinking of a staycation, you might believe you should stay home and act like a tourist in your city. It’ll help you save a bit of money on accommodation costs. While it’s easy to see why, it doesn’t always mean it’s the best idea. Booking a hotel room can make the experience feel like a vacation. Though that means spending more on your staycation, it should help ensure you have as lovely a time as possible. There’s almost no reason not to book one.
Living full-time or most of the year in Los Cabos doesn’t mean you’ve seen it all — in fact, it’s the perfect excuse to plan a staycation and explore the quieter corners of Baja. Remote gems like Todos Santos, La Ventana, the East Cape, or even La Paz offer a different vibe than the main tourist corridors. Whether you’re craving a romantic couples escape with a luxury resort, spa treatments, and ocean-view massages, or looking to unwind with a group of friends in a high-end Airbnb villa with a private pool and chef service, there’s no shortage of ways to decompress without going far. You can even go on a private day tour with a local driver and guide, or hire someone to take you to your staycation spot so you can sit back and relax the whole way. Sometimes the best reset is just a few hours up the road — and it starts with leaving the keys behind.
Look Into Activities
Since you’ll be staying in the city you already live in, you’ll know about more than a few activities you can try during your staycation. But that doesn’t mean you’ll learn about all of them—quite the opposite. You could overlook more than a few of them. It’s worth looking into what you can do to see what you might be overlooking. Looking up ‘best strip club near me’ in Lexington (if you live there) or other activities can be more than worth it. You should end up having a better time because of it.
Pack Light
You’ll already know you’ll have to pack for any vacation. With a staycation, however, you shouldn’t have to pack nearly as much as you might think. It’s worth packing as light as possible, so you don’t have to bring too much. Even a relatively small bag could be more than enough, depending on how long the staycation is. In the worst-case scenario, you can always nip back to your house and pick up anything you might’ve forgotten about and actually need. It’ll be quick and easy.
A staycation can be appealing for more than a few reasons. You’ll have a great time without spending much time – or money – getting to another destination. But that doesn’t mean staying home for a few days. It’s worth putting in more effort than that.
You’ll need to plan a staycation properly to have a fantastic time. This shouldn’t have to take a lot of effort, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy it. With the proper steps, it should go smoothly and be as memorable as possible.
